Wayfinder live SG
2019
Australian artist Troy Innocent has brought his work, Wayfinder Live to Singapore. In collaboration with Troy, a team of NAFA students including myself worked with him to bring it to life in Singapore.
Wayfinder Live is a free to play location-based augmented reality game. Scanning urban codes on the street unlock fragments of animation and sound that document traces of a hidden micronation.
Originally created for Melbourne International Games Week, Wayfinder live is a live game in which you explore cities through play. Wayfinding not to get from a to b but to find a new way to be. That way to be is in a place called the Micronation of Ludea. If you have played a game then you have been to Ludea. It is that space you go to when you are ‘in-game’, in the zone, immsersed in play. In Wayfinder Live you use tokens to influence territories and claim them for your clan: paint the town orange, green or blue?

What we did
The team scouted locations around NAFA with interesting facts or places that most people do not know about. After putting together the gathered locations, we picked our favourite locations before forming a route for the players. After discussing the precise locations of where we would place each code, we then worked on the contents of the game ( intsructions, storyline, etc)

Placing the codes
The team then proceeded to place the codes at the chosen locations for a test. After making final changes to the locations. The codes were placed on their final location, the day before the game play.

Gameplay
NAFA students were invited to play the game by downloading the Wayfinder app.
The following are photos of the gameplay.

Showcase
After the gameplay, a showcase was held in NAFA, displaying the entire project.
