A school project by NAFA.
Created scenes of We Bare Bears in Singapore while raising certain cultures and behaviours of Singaporeans. I chose We Bare Bears partly because of the project requirement but mainly because the characters are a perfect fit, to inject humour and mock into my intended piece of work, just like how the bears behave naturally in their human habitat.

project purpose
To showcase the personality of the bears while tackling local cultures, highlighting local cultures through the attention of the bears. This way, Singaporeans who were never interested in Singapore culture would be interested to take a look because of the bears.
project Objective
To display the distinct personality of each bear, allowing each bear to resonate with the audience and the situation they are placed in, in Singapore context. Audience will feel intrigued and fascinated with how the bears take on local cultures and practices, which is relatable as Singaporeans do the same as well. To evoke a sense of nostalgia and childhood memories amongst Singaporeans.

Message
Local cultures are uniquely Singapore even though it can be quite a mess due to the different races and how we are brought up. Despite the many cultures that seem like nothing on a daily basis, we should always remember, embrace our local cultures and be proud of it.
Concept
To integrate the bears into Singapore’s society by getting the bears involved in local culture and local scenes with some societal issues addressed. The Singapore scene will be brought into their environment, to show what the bears usually do, to mimic people’s behaviour and subtly mocking some societal issues present.
Diorama 1
Bear Hawker
Ice bear opens his own hawker stall while grizz and pan pan helps with serving. Grizz however sneaks off to eat his own food while clumsy pan pan slips and spills the food.
Diorama 2
Mama Shop vs Convenience Store
The bears try and help to keep the mama shop’s business alive as it competes against the modern convenience store. Grizz does everything the signboard tells him not to, Pan pan sides with the convenience store and takes selfies with it, Ice bear shows his indifference to everything that is happening and does whatever he wants.

Traditional games
The bears take a shot at traditional games. The bears however, brings their own rules into the games. Pan pan sits on a swing using his phone, while Grizz eats marbles while playing hopscotch, Ice bear juggles five stones and chapteh on his head.
